Every diamond deserves to shine

“Mom, do you have any jewelry you’re not using?”

My mom gave me these ruby rings that my dad gave her decades ago. They were rusty and crusty, poorly maintained and the diamonds fell out.

(Left) Real diamonds. (Right) Fake diamonds. Would you have known? I didn’t!

Spent a month ring hunting

But nothing made my heart move.

I was never a “brand” girl. I have no interest in the hype that Tiffany or Cartier offers. If I, myself can’t afford to buy my own ring, I don’t think I should make Bunny Hubby buy a ring that’s worth 3 month’s rent (now the protocol is 1.5 months). There are other things we need to set aside budget for… like our wedding?!

If you’re like me in this way, consider bringing in your old diamonds and design a one-of-a-kind ring. You can always fill up space with bigger lab diamonds, which is what I did.

Every weekend, I went to other brand shops (Aoyama Vendome, Chambert, Ginza Shiraishi, 4C, The Kiss, I-Primo, Department stores etc.) But it was all the same.

Nothing beats whole-sale

Engagement rings at Sakura Hoseki

Sakura Hoseki invited Bunny Hubby and I to their home office. They spoke English and Japanese and made us feel right at home. I don’t know why but the timing of connecting with them just felt… so right.

Bunny Hubby and I were about to engaged. We were just counting down the days until we made a year.

I wanted my campaign with Sakura Hoseki to be special and authentic to my viewers. Not just, “Hey guys look! Here is something sparkly you can get that’s made in Japan! Use my code…” I wanted to separate myself from the other influencers and create a story that is relevant to my life at that time.

Reference photo for the designer

Trust the process:

After handing them the old jewelry and sending them inspo pics, get ready for the very exciting process.

In about three weeks to a month, they will send an illustration and simulation of a few options. Initially, I wanted an M wave design like in the reference photo. But m vision kept changing with each draft, and I ended up choosing the V design. A straight line of diamonds also would’ve been perfect, but I figured it was a little boring for my taste.

The ring became more real from pencil marks to 2D digital illustration to 3D CAD. This process was so exciting! Once I selected my choice, the finishing was rather quick. A box will be sent to you.

My very messy illustration. Bunny Hubby initially just wanted a plain platinum band. After seeing the diamonds, he decided to get a tiny one in the center LOL (drawing in bottom right corner).

The designers are so meticulous to the T! You will get exactly what you want.

Ooops! Wrong size??

Either Bunny Hubby gained weight because it’s summertime or something got miscommunicated. But don’t worry, Sakura Hoseki will fix it at no charge. Domestic shipping was under $5 via Sagawa Delivery. We received the ring within a week. I was impressed at how quick this was done.

I LOVE HOW IT CAME OUT!

I LOVE HOW IT CAME OUT! 〰️

I am one happy gal!

Not only did I revive two necklaces, got platinum rings, reused the old tiny diamonds gifted from my dad, saved some space in the jewelry box, saved 600,000 yen but no one was harmed in the making of the rings! The earth is safe and no one had to risk their lives in the mines (movie reference: Blood Diamond).

The ring itself is comfortable because it is smoothly rounded. It’s just the perfect thickness and measured correctly. It’s not too shiny that it calls unwanted attention, but just enough sparkle that it’s elegant.

Also, it felt very good that I was part of the process from the beginning to end! You have to experience this yourself!

How are they so affordable??

my mom was also very happy :)
