Hakone
Nestled in Kanagawa Prefecture, just a short distance from Tokyo, lies the enchanting town of Hakone. Most Japanese couples com here for a romantic getaway from the city. This is the spot if you’re looking to bathe in real natural hot spring water. Many of my tour guests have spent a day or two in Hakone because they want to stay near Mt. Fuji and spend a night at with a modern indoor private bath with natural spring water.
Hakone NICA
(5 star hotel) is an ideal retreat for those seeking a romantic getaway from the everyday chaos. I stayed at the Premium Hollywood Twin Room with Living Area and Semi Open-Air Bath, which is perfect for two.
15/10 stars … beyond my expectation!
Pick up and drop off shuttle service included. Once you get to Gora Station after riding the cute train, make sure to call the hotel for pick up and come to this spot below.
The price tag is pricey, but that’s because everything is included! All you can drink bar in the lounge, which you can take up to your room and enjoy being lazy on the huge flat screen TV. All you can eat snacks and room service. Breakfast and dinner included, which you can enjoy in the room or in the dining hall with the magnificent room. For a flat fee, you’re definitely getting your value. You might end up paying more if you were to ala carte all of this. Indulge without thinking about the price!
VIP luxury feeling yet affordable. This is the kind of place Eugene Levy would love. I can imagine him reading his favorite book while sipping on a whiskey.
Indoor bath water is from Hakone’s natural springs. My skin rejuvenated after taking a bath 3 times a day!
No kids allowed. Don’t get me wrong, I adore kids because I'm a kid-friendly channel, but I can’t be hearing a child screaming down the hall when I want to chill. So parents, leave your kids at home! Hakone NICA welcomes children ages 12 and up.
Slippers and nightwear… check! The fanciest loungewear plus robe which you can wear to the dining hall or to sleep is provided!
Happy hour all day. Call in room service and order everything! Be sure to leave room for dinner!
Enjoy even on a rainy day. My stay was around April, so we had heavy showers. I was so cozy, I didn’t want to leave my hotel room. The view of the mountain scenery was like an enchanted painting, so don’t be disappointed if the weather doesn’t turn out!

Lake Kawaguchiko
Oike Hotel
(5 star hotel) is conveniently located near the lake. This is great for people with tattoos and those IG pics!
8.5/10 stars
The room is traditional tatami style. Loungewear includes yukata, which you can wear to the dining hall.
Small indoor bath and public outdoor bath with a great view
Restaurant was excellent. Wear your yukata and dine like royalty.
Location is prime

is not a hotel accommodation but rather, a campsite, aka. “glamorous camping” or simply “glamping.” Just bring your swim suit, sauna hat and long sleeves and jeans.
Secret hidden gem, favorable among Japanese who love sauna culture. Many repeaters among Japanese guests. There is no better 4-step sauna routine than this. If you understand “totonou”, you know what I mean…
Pick and drop off shuttle service at the station.
Kids will love it. I did a sound check and you can’t hear loud screaming inside the house. So you can blast the movie projector for the ultimate sleepover.
House party! Also great for a girl’s or boy’s trip! (Overnight guests up to 4 max)
Everything is provided. Indoor, outdoor slippers, toothbrush, kitchen appliances, campfire tools. The best thing is not having to pack for camping stuff.
Food. If you rented a car, you can buy groceries at a nearby supermarket and cook/BBQ. However, the facility can provide food for an extra cost.
Facilities. Open-air jacuzzi, wooden charcoal sauna, fresh water lake, two BBQ area, campfire pit, huge lawn, parking space, kitchen, TV protector… this is the perfect vacation house getaway.
BUGS! My only demerit for this place are the bugs outside during the summer (we went in June). I am not sure if this can be helped at all because you’re surrounded by nature. I wish the facility can put more caution warning signs. Please bring bug spray to avoid 蚋 “buyo” or blood sucking gnats and wear covered pants during the summer.

It’s dog & kid friendly!
The glamping facility offers outstanding views of majestic Mt. Fuji from all guest rooms. Neither hotel, ryokan inn, nor camping, it offers a comfortable outdoor experience with the relaxed feel of time available only from glamping. The dome-shaped tents are fully equipped with beds and cooling/heating. The adjacent private dining building features showers, toilets, and amenities, letting even first-timers at outdoor living arrive without gear. Each building also boasts a private garden of over 100 square meters for enjoying bonfires and fireworks without worrying about onlookers.
The facility is particular about meals, offering a very satisfying menu of items including name-brand beef from Yamanashi Prefecture, rainbow trout raised in the spring waters of Fuji, and other splendid meats and fish, as well as local vegetables freshly harvested in season. Come and experience out-of-the-ordinary lodging a bit different from hotels and inns. Enjoy Glamping Village TOTONOI Fuji Yamanakako in the Lake Yamanaka area of Yamanashi Prefecture!
How to access:
Option 1: Take Busta Express Bus departing from 11:15 am at Shinjuku Bus Terminal and ride for 2.5 hours. Get off at Yamanakako Hirano stop at 13:39. Just a five-minute walk to the site.
Option 2: By car takes 2.5 hours. We took a shortcut through the swirly winding route, which can be fun driving through the forest. We passed by beautiful sakura trees. Not recommended for people who get motion sickness easily.
