Podcast with Temple University

In January 2024, I was invited to appear on a podcast hosted by two Temple University marketing professors (Prof. Sheri Lambert, Prof. Jim Thompson). The podcast is called, “You Did What?!,” which talks about "all things marketing."

YDW 30-minute segment can be found on Spotify here: You Did What!: Cyber Bunny interview 1/23/24

They were interested in hearing about my experience as a social media content creator. Here is a list of my biggest moments throughout my career:

  • Forbes Asia 30 under 30- 2022

  • Pacific Edge Magazine’s “Social Media of the Year”- 2022

  • “The Reluctant Traveler” appearance on Apple TV- 2/23/23

  • “Monocle” 6-minute segment on BBC World Service Radio on Japanese Stationery- 3/18/24

I’m just so happy that someone wants to hear me vent about my 6 years of pain, tears and struggles of what it took (and still taking) to build my Bunny Empire.

Growing the “Bunny brand” in Japan and overseas

In the past, I’ve promoted all types of industries: hotels, sake, snack subscription boxes, cosmetics, local restaurants, kitchenware, language learning apps, Japanese courses, e-commerce proxy sites, VPNs, massage salons, stationary, are ones I can think at the top of my head.

Some questions we covered…

  • What inspired CB to become a content creator?

  • How do you choose what brands to work with?

  • How CB's appearance on The Reluctant Traveler has affected her content and allowed her to pivot

  • How was CB chosen to be on the show?

  • Building CB’s Bunny Tour Business

  • Where would you take someone if it’s their first time in Japan?

“The Reluctant Traveler” on Apple TV aired on Feb 23, 2023

Student-Produced

The podcast is run, produced, and marketed by Temple marketing students and their student run professional organization, the American Marketing Association chapter. The students have begun interviewing the guests that come on the podcast.

I think it’s great that they get to experience the motion first hand with experts along their side. I wish I had this when I was starting out! I was totally alone 6 years ago!

Temple University is in great hands

Sheri Lambert is a professor of Marketing at Temple University in Philadelphia. She has received an appointment as a Provost Visiting Professor at Temple University Japan for Spring 2024 semester.  At TUJ,  she will be teaching graduate and undergraduate courses on Marketing Management, International Marketing and Digital Marketing. In addition, she has 15 graduate students in Business flying over to Tokyo on March 3 for an International Immersion in Japan.

What’s Next?

We are not sure, but our 30-min talk was so short, that I didn’t even begin to touch the surface!

We are in the middle of talking about an in-classroom visit in March or April or before summer break. I would love to meet the students who have been working so hard researching and doing their homework on me!

I’ve told Sheri that I am looking for interns to help me write blog articles, tag along with me to scope out places and be my videographer. I think hands-on experience is very important to test out, “Is this really for me? Do I like this kind of work? Am I cut out to be in front of the camera or back end? Maybe I don’t like to share my face or voice on the internet?” These questions are important to ask yourself before you start your personal brand. Need a Rec letter? You got it.

If anyone is interested, please use the contact form!

This is what I mean when I can “bridge the gap” between two worlds.

In the near future, I’d like to be more active in the education space. Whether that means hanging out and teaching English to Japanese high school students across Japan or giving tours and teaching Japanese culture and history in Asakusa to middle school students from Australia or discussing marketing strategies to university students. Who knows what the future holds!

If I can help people create opportunities outside of their comfort zones, I’d be the happiest bunny in the world. That is my ikigai.
